Community Connections: Scott Holmberg and REACH

At Pacific Residential Mortgage, one of our core values is Serve. We are in the business to serve our customers, our employees, and our communities. Specifically, we focus on child and youth development, supporting programs that engage youth within their communities, schools, and families. It's our social responsibility to live our values and help those in need by using our time and resources to improve the lives of others. Today we'd like to highlight one of our team members, Scott Holmberg, who embodies this value through his connections with the Redmond Experience Activity Connection Hub (REACH).

Scott Holmberg

Scott is a Sr. Mortgage Advisor (NMLS-284301) and the Area Manager for the Redmond and Baker City branches of PRM. He was born in Bend, completed high school in Eugene, and attended the University of Oregon. Scott loves outdoor activities, especially golf, hiking, and fishing. Scott's been on the board at REACH for three years and is the current board president. Scott says he feels it's important to support local youth and families, especially by providing a safe, educational, and fun place for children to be while the parents are at work.

What is REACH?

REACH is a before and after school resource for kids to have access to activities, experiences, and connections that promote growth and development. REACH staff work hard to develop fun, meaningful activities for youth to engage in during non-school hours, including no-school days, holidays, and spring/summer vacations. There are programs for kids from Kindergarten through High School, and they provide transportation to and from every school in the Redmond School District. REACH is a non-profit, so they rely on community support to keep their programs going at reasonable costs to the parents. They accept donations in various forms, including through Amazon Smile, Fred Meyer Rewards, and can/bottle drop off donations. Their main fundraiser each year is called Golf Fore Kids, which is in partnership with Kiwanis of Redmond. Golf Fore Kids is a day of golf, fun, food, and friendship, with the goal of building a community that recognizes the value of investing in youth. This year's tournament will be on Friday, July 12th at the Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond. For more information on this event, including enrollment forms, visit the REACH website Golf Fore Kids page.

What Does REACH Offer to Kids?

REACH offers several opportunities for kids to engage in activities at various times.

• Before School: The before school program runs from 6:30-8:15AM Monday through Friday. Kids receive a hot and healthy breakfast, homework help, and mentoring from caring adults. The REACH buses provide safe and reliable transportation to school so the kids arrive on time and ready to learn.
• After School: The after school program runs from after school releases through 6:30PM Monday through Friday. Kids ride the REACH buses from school back to the facility. They have access to healthy snacks, homework help, activities such as ping pong, outdoor play equipment, and a pool table. There's also a complete art room and education room with computers.
• No School Days: For the weekdays that kids have off for teacher conferences or other district closures, REACH offers an all-day solution so parents can still go to work to support their families. No school days typically involve some sort of group activity or field trip, such as geocaching or a few rounds of disc golf.
• Summer: The summer program provides age-appropriate experiences, field trips, and social interaction for kids. Both breakfast and lunch are provided so the kids will have a nutritious source for the energy they'll be burning each day. Summer activity examples include weekly swimming trips, cooking club, gardening club, science club, arts and crafts, and dress up days.
