3rd Annual Blessing Bags Drive
November 15, 2018 — 3 min read
For the last two years, PRM's Sherwood branch has gone above and beyond during the season of giving. We are back in full swing now and ready to start our 3rd Annual Blessing Bag Drive. Our goal is to collect as much as we can through the month of November and then assemble the bags in our Sherwood office on Wednesday, December 5th.
What are Blessing Bags?
Homelessness is a significant issue in many cities, and many people are unsure of what to do when you see someone on the street. Should you offer them money? Should you buy them a meal? Should you simply offer thoughtful conversation? Blessing Bags are a great way to have something on hand when you see someone in need or want to brighten someone's day. Blessing Bags are practical yet simple gifts. It's giving them everyday products to help them out while they are on the streets. Whether it's personal hygiene, warm clothes, snacks, water, etc. What to do with Blessing Bags
Many people will keep them in their car (backseat or trunk) so that when you see someone alongside the road, or out and about in the city, you can easily access the bag to give it to that person in need. Others will intentionally seek people out who may be in need and distribute the bags in cold weather. However, you give out a Blessing Bag, no matter what, it will be a blessing to someone this season. What We've Collected
Two years ago, the Sherwood branch's goal was to make 20 Blessing Bags, which they surpassed by collecting 35 bags. Last year, their goal was to make 50 bags, and with help from PRM employees and other donors, they ended up making around 140 bags with 30 smaller bags for the homeless dogs you may see with their owners. This year's goal is 100 bags with hope to surpass that goal as well! How to Give:
