Granite Bay, set on the shore of Folsom Lake, offers outdoors activities galore.
Located about 25 miles east of Sacramento, it’s known for its highly rated schools, a low crime rate, and beautiful landscape. It also offers beach lovers and families an escape from the city without the hassle of a long drive to the coast.
Set out a picnic, go fishing, or try windsurfing at Granite Bay Beach; there are also plenty of hiking opportunities nearby at the Miners Ravine Trail Loop.
If you need to cool off, watch for the ice cream man, but he may not come from the direction you’d expect—at the beach, the ice cream truck is a boat. There are also cultural attractions, including the Folsom Prison Museum, The Harris Center, and the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary.
